Controversial social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing his administration of allowing political impunity to thrive as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections.
In a video shared on his Instagram page on Tuesday, the activist criticised both Tinubu and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike. His comments followed remarks by Wike about his political influence in a state election.
Addressing the president, VDM argued that the actions and attitudes of some government officials reflected what he described as an atmosphere of impunity allegedly encouraged by the administration’s pursuit of a second term.

“President Tinubu, imagine the kind of impunity you have enabled in Nigeria, all in the name of securing a second term. You have allowed power-intoxicated people like the FCT Minister to forget their place,” he said.
The activist also challenged what he considered an exaggerated perception of Wike’s political influence, stressing that the electorate ultimately determines the outcome of elections in a democracy.
According to VDM, the 2027 election remains unpredictable, particularly because, in his view, political leaders have pushed Nigerians to a breaking point through their actions.
“The masses are bigger than all of you. Nobody knows the outcome of the 2027 election because you people have pushed Nigerians to the wall,” he added.
Beyond his criticism of Tinubu and Wike, VDM blamed some Nigerians for contributing to the country’s political challenges by allowing ethnic and religious divisions to influence their political decisions.
He argued that such divisions weaken citizens’ ability to unite and hold elected officials accountable.
“I blame the people that refuse to unite, always using tribal card and religion,” he said.
In the caption accompanying the video, VDM directly tagged Tinubu’s official Instagram account and reiterated his criticism of the president’s leadership.
He accused the administration of tolerating political excesses in the pursuit of a second term and argued that some politicians had lost sight of their responsibilities to the public.
The activist also suggested that citizens must accept part of the blame for the situation, arguing that political leaders have become increasingly emboldened because Nigerians have failed to exercise their collective influence effectively.
VDM’s comments add to the political debate surrounding the Tinubu administration, Wike’s influence and the growing tension ahead of the 2027 general elections. However, his statements represent his personal views and allegations rather than established findings of wrongdoing.
