Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has issued a bold call to the Nigerian government, demanding full control of a security agency to lead operations against Fulani terrorists. The outspoken agitator made the demand while addressing his supporters in Ibadan, Oyo State, stressing his readiness to take decisive action where the government has struggled.

Sunday Igboho Demands Control of Security Agency

Speaking passionately, Igboho vowed to storm forests and remote communities believed to shelter these groups, confiscate their weapons, and completely dismantle their operations. He emphasized the personal stakes involved, stating, “The government should hand over a security agency to me and see if I won’t eradicate the Fulani terrorists. If I don’t kpai all of them, tell the government to kpai me.”

His statement comes amid rising herder-farmer conflicts that have continued to claim lives across Nigeria. The clashes, which have plagued various states since the 2010s, have intensified in recent months. Notably, over 200 people were reportedly killed in Benue State’s Yelwata community in June 2025, highlighting the urgent need for effective security interventions.

In a separate development, gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the Zamfara State capital of Gusau on Independence Day, October 1. The heavily armed assailants reportedly abducted two local government councillors and another resident in the Tsauni area around 8 p.m., taking them into nearby forests. The abducted councillors represent Gidan Gona and Tsibiri wards in Maradun Local Government Area.

With insecurity escalating across several regions, Sunday Igboho’s demand for control of a security agency underscores the frustration among citizens over recurring violence and the government’s perceived inability to contain armed groups.
