Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has said former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, is now facing the same justice system he once defended while in office.

He made the remarks on Monday at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Sowore accused Malami of openly supporting the system during the administration of the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, despite concerns raised at the time.

“You can now see what it feels like to face persecution,” Sowore said. “When you served under Buhari, you defended the system. We warned about its failures, but those warnings were ignored. Now, the same system is confronting you.”

He reiterated that the justice system remains flawed, stressing that its shortcomings affect both public officials and ordinary citizens.

Highlighting what he described as the irony of Malami’s situation, Sowore offered him a symbolic “revolutionary cap.”

“I want to give you my cap. It represents resistance,” he added.

Despite his criticism, Sowore acknowledged Malami’s composure during the proceedings.

“At least, I’m glad you are holding up,” he noted.

Sowore concluded by broadening his remarks to the state of the nation, insisting that systemic issues persist regardless of political alignment.

“This struggle goes beyond individuals. The system affects everyone. No matter how powerful some may seem, we will continue to stand firm,” he said.
