A new WhatsApp scam is targeting unsuspecting Nigerians, with fraudsters allegedly impersonating Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, the Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, to promote fake investment schemes.
The scammers have reportedly created a WhatsApp group named “Value Focus Club 60” using the phone number +234 915 708 8290. They also used the chairman’s image to make the group appear legitimate and gain the trust of potential victims.
Key Facts to Note
Investigations confirm that:
The Access Holdings Chairman does not operate any WhatsApp investment group
The company does not offer investment advice or opportunities via WhatsApp
Any message claiming otherwise is entirely fraudulent
The scheme was uncovered by a whistleblower who raised the alarm, prompting warnings for the public to remain vigilant.
Safety Advisory
Members of the public are urged to take the following precautions:
Avoid joining or interacting with the group
Do not share personal or financial information
Block and report the number on WhatsApp immediately
Inform friends and family to prevent further spread
Access Holdings is said to be taking steps to shut down the fraudulent operation. However, public awareness remains critical in preventing more people from falling victim.
Customers are advised to stay alert and verify all investment-related communications through official channels before taking any action.
