Educators, private school owners, and stakeholders in Nigeria’s education sector convened at the NUT Pavilion, Alausa Ikeja, for a Stakeholder Dialogue and Book Exhibition organised by the Platform for Educators and Private School Owners (PEPSO). The event aimed to equip school leaders with values and tools for integrity-based educational leadership.

The National President of PEPSO, Dr. Comfort Aderonke Otegbeye, opened the dialogue by urging educators to lead with integrity, trustworthiness, and sincerity in their duties. She emphasised that the initiative sought to empower stakeholders with practical skills to enhance student outcomes while upholding ethical standards.

“This event is more than a gathering; it’s a call to action. Integrity must be at the heart of everything we do to transform our education sector,” Dr. Otegbeye said.

Delivering the keynote address, an experienced educationist underscored that leadership remains the bedrock of successful educational institutions. According to her, effective leaders inspire, create direction, and empower teachers to fulfil their potential.

“Educational leadership is no longer just about management; it is about inspiring transformation with adaptability, vision, and moral uprightness,” she stated, aligning her remarks with the event theme: Rethinking Educational Leadership for the 21st Century.

She urged school owners to model excellence, create inclusive learning environments, and cultivate a culture rooted in responsibility and ethical leadership.

Compassionate Teaching and Technology Integration

A seasoned education consultant urged teachers to demonstrate compassion, commitment, and technological competence in modern classrooms. She noted that harnessing digital tools ethically enhances learning experiences.

“Digital platforms can make learning interactive and personalised. Educators must embrace change, keep learning, and use technology responsibly to inspire young minds,” she said.

She emphasised integrating emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and continuous professional development into teaching practices to meet today’s learning demands.

In a closing session, Mr. Akudu Kamorudeen, retired Director of Monitoring and Investigation, Lagos State Ministry of Education, discussed the legal and moral responsibilities of school owners and teachers. He stressed safeguarding children academically, morally, and socially.

“Educators must understand legal expectations on student safety, including duty of care, prevention of negligence, and institutional accountability. Schools must implement policies that protect and nurture children holistically,” Mr. Kamorudeen advised.

He encouraged teachers to guide students beyond academics, fostering proper conduct, discipline, and social development.

Book Exhibition Highlights

The event featured a Book Exhibition showcasing curriculum-aligned textbooks, instructional materials, e-learning platforms, and child-friendly resources. Publishers, school suppliers, and ed-tech firms engaged directly with educators to share solutions and innovations.

During his closing remarks, Mr. Oladayo Soremekun, PEPSO National Secretary, appreciated attendees for their commitment and announced that the next seminar will hold in Ogun State.

Event partners advocated for educators’ exposure to modern educational tools, emphasising continual innovation and capacity-building for sustainable sector growth.

The PEPSO Stakeholder Dialogue and Book Exhibition concluded with participants committing to ethical leadership, modern teaching approaches, and collaborative growth to advance Nigeria’s education system.
