The Kaduna State Government has rejected a viral letter claiming that Governor Uba Sani approved and released N2.3 trillion for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off, describing the document as fraudulent.
The government said the allegation was false and misleading, accusing those behind the purported letter of attempting to undermine the governor’s reputation for fiscal discipline and responsible management of public funds.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, disclosed this in a statement issued in Kaduna on Saturday.

According to Maiyaki, the document, dated October 18, 2026, and titled “Notification for Preparations for the Grand Rally Flag Off,” contained several inconsistencies that raised doubts about its authenticity.
He explained that the letter, allegedly addressed to Senator Abdulazeez Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, claimed that N2.3 trillion had been released to finance the campaign flag-off.
However, the commissioner pointed out that Kaduna State’s 2026 budget was N985.92 billion, meaning the alleged campaign expenditure was more than twice the state’s entire annual budget.
He maintained that the claim was financially implausible and had no backing in official budgetary approvals, appropriations or expenditure records.
Maiyaki further highlighted discrepancies in the document, including the incorrect spelling of the governor’s surname as “Uba Sai” and what he described as the unauthorised reproduction of the governor’s signature.
“The Kaduna State Government categorically disowns this document. Gov. Uba Sani neither authored nor authorised the purported letter, and no N2.3 trillion was budgeted, approved or released,” he said.
The commissioner described the allegation as fabricated, alleging that it was intended to deceive the public and damage the administration’s credibility.
He said that since taking office on May 29, 2023, Governor Sani had focused on promoting transparency, accountability, fiscal discipline and prudent management of state resources.
According to him, the administration has prioritised investment in security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and social protection as part of its development agenda.
Maiyaki also expressed concern over what he described as a coordinated misinformation campaign aimed at discrediting the governor and his government ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He warned that forging official correspondence and circulating false claims involving public finances could amount to criminal offences.
“Political competition must be conducted within the bounds of truth, decency and the law,” the commissioner said, urging those questioning government spending to present credible evidence to support their allegations.
He disclosed that the state government was taking steps to determine the origin of the purported letter.
Maiyaki also called on security and investigative agencies to investigate the document and ensure that anyone found responsible faced the appropriate legal consequences.
The commissioner urged media organisations and members of the public to verify the authenticity of documents before publishing or sharing allegations concerning public expenditure.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to maintaining peace, strengthening public institutions, developing infrastructure, improving citizens’ welfare and promoting sustainable governance.
Maiyaki added that the government would remain focused on responsible financial management and its development priorities despite what it described as deliberate attempts to spread misinformation.
