Johnnie Walker Blonde joined thousands of film enthusiasts at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, over the weekend to celebrate Nora Awolowo’s Guinness World Records milestone following the historic screening of Black Market the Movie.
The historic gathering brought together about 51,000 film lovers, creatives and young Nigerians, as Lagos once again demonstrated its influence as a leading hub for culture and entertainment. The event also celebrated director and director of photography Nora Awolowo, whose journey from mobile filmmaking to leading a record-breaking cinema experience captured the spirit of Nigeria’s rapidly evolving creative industry.
Tafawa Balewa Square was transformed into a massive open-air cinema, giving thousands of attendees the opportunity to witness Black Market the Movie and become part of what organisers described as a groundbreaking moment for African cinema.

“Tonight proved what is possible when young African creators are given the backing to dream without limits,” said Awolowo, director and DP of Black Market the Movie. “Moving from mobile filmmaking to directing an event of this scale is a dream, and having Johnnie Walker Blonde champion this journey made the experience unforgettable.”
