Hannah Berner is addressing the controversy after an uncomfortable red-carpet exchange with Megan Thee Stallion went viral.

The 33-year-old Giggly Squad podcast host faced intense criticism on social media following her interview with the 30-year-old rapper at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party on March 2.

The Interview That Sparked Backlash

During the exchange, Berner enthusiastically mentioned that she watched Megan’s In Her Words documentary and said:

“Your music has literally, when I want to fight someone, I listen to your music.”

Megan, visibly redirecting the conversation, responded:

“Because you want to throw that fighting s—t out the window and you want to get cute and be a bad b—h.”

Berner continued, saying:

“When people are talking s—t, I go, ‘Turn on Megan Thee Stallion!’”

Social Media Reacts

The interview quickly sparked backlash, with many online calling Berner’s comments a “microaggression” and questioning why she associated Megan’s music with fighting, especially since Megan often promotes confidence and self-love in her songs.

Some also noted that Megan attempted multiple times to shift the focus, even saying:

“Body-ody-ody, I look beautiful, I look so great!”

Megan has previously spoken out against violence. In a 2020 interview with Genius, she said:

“Fighting is so ugly… Girls is paying $80 to get their nails done. Do you know nails just go up?”

Hannah Berner Responds

Following the backlash, Berner addressed the situation in an Instagram Story less than a week later.

“Interviewing Megan Thee Stallion was a dream of mine. I love her music, and it’s my go-to whenever I need to boost my confidence before a show,” she wrote.

“Looking back at the interview, I wish I used any other word except ‘fight’ to describe how her songs impact me. It was a careless choice of words, and though there was no ill intent, I recognize and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning, and I am so sorry to Megan. I appreciate everyone who brought this to my attention,” she added.

Public Reaction Remains Divided

Despite the apology, social media remains split on the controversy. While some appreciate Berner’s acknowledgment, others feel the incident highlights a broader issue in media representation.
