With deep sorrow, former presidential candidate Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies extends her heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and the entire Babanloma community over the tragic deaths of two valiant vigilantes, Salahudeen Bashir Dada and Abdulfatai Elemosho. These brave sons of the community gave their lives in the line of duty, courageously protecting lives and property in Babanloma, Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State.

In a statement, Adesanya-Davies described the loss, as a painful blow not only to the immediate families but also to the entire community and all peace-loving citizens of Kwara State. She prayed that Almighty God will grant the deceased eternal rest and may their gentle souls rest in peace. May He, the Almighty God also comfort their families, loved ones, the community and the entire state during this moment of grief.

“Truly, our society has lost genuine heroes,” Adesanya-Davies said. “Yet, their legacy of courage, selflessness, and service will continue to inspire us all.”

She calls on relevant authorities including: The Governor of Kwara State, The Honourable Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, and all relevant Security Agencies in Kwara State to urgently enhance security in the state, stating that, “The recent tragic incident in Babanloma, Ifelodun Local Government Area, where two brave vigilantes, Salahudeen Bashir Dada and Abdulfatai Elemosho, lost their lives in the line of duty, is a stark reminder of the dire need for enhanced security measures.”

URGENT KEY DEMANDS:
1. Enhanced Security Presence: We the Kwarans urge for an increased and visible security presence in rural and urban areas to deter criminal activities and provide a sense of safety to our citizens.
2. Intelligence Sharing and Collaboration: We call for improved intelligence sharing between security agencies and community leaders to effectively combat crime and identify potential threats.
3. Support for Vigilante Groups: We request that vigilante groups, who are often the first line of defense in our communities, be provided with adequate training, equipment, and support to enhance their effectiveness and safety.
4. Community Engagement: We propose the establishment of community policing forums where citizens can engage with security agencies to discuss security concerns and collaboratively find solutions.
5. Swift Justice: We demand that perpetrators of violence and crime are brought to justice swiftly and impartially, serving as a deterrent to others.

Princess Davies believes that, “Kwara State is tagged “THE STATE OF HARMONY” and with concerted efforts, peace and security can be restored in Kwara State with tangible actions taken to address these pressing issues of Fulani bandits ravaging the state to kill and dislocate the indigenous people.”

The former presidential candidate’s condolences reflect her deep commitment to the welfare and safety of her State and Nigerian citizens, particularly in the face of insecurity and violence. Her words of comfort and prayers for the departed vigilantes and their families reminds us of the need for unity and resilience in the face of adversity towards peace.

The Kwara State Ira Princess Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies is a renowned Nigerian professor, politician, and peace advocate who has run for the presidency in the past. She is known for her commitment to public service, education, and social justice.
