The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has been announced as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His emergence followed the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

Born on August 8, 1968, Yilwatda is a respected politician from Plateau State, an accomplished engineer, and an academic. He was appointed as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in October 2024, where he has since overseen various humanitarian and disaster management programmes across the country.

Professor Yilwatda’s appointment as the APC National Chairman comes after the brief acting leadership of Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori. Dalori, who is the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), was directed by President Tinubu to take over in an acting capacity following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

With his official confirmation by the NEC, party stakeholders believe that Professor Yilwatda’s wealth of experience in governance, academia, and engineering will strengthen the ruling party’s national leadership as it prepares for upcoming political activities and elections.
