A former Secretary of the APC Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, Mr. Ayoola Lawal, has described the appointment of Nigeria’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, to the Governing Board of the African Union Humanitarian Agency (AfHA) as a well-deserved honour and a significant achievement for Nigeria.
The APC chieftain said this in a statement on Wednesday.
Lawal, the immediate past APC chairman in the Scandinavian Countries, congratulated Doro on his appointment, saying that he had no doubt that the minister would live up to expectations of the AU.
Lawal described the appointment as a significant recognition of Doro’s leadership, professional competence, and commitment to humanitarian service.
He said the announcement reflected Nigeria’s growing contribution to humanitarian coordination and social protection initiatives across the African continent.
“The appointment will provide Nigeria and the West African region with an important opportunity to contribute to the development of African-led humanitarian policies and strengthen regional cooperation in addressing humanitarian challenges.”
He expressed confidence that the minister’s experience in humanitarian coordination, poverty reduction, and institutional reforms would add value to the work of the African Humanitarian Agency.
Lawal also prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for the minister as he prepared to undertake the continental responsibility, wishing him continued success in serving Nigeria and Africa.
Recall that the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction on Tuesday announced that Doro was appointed to represent West Africa on the AfHA governing board.
