Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of offering financial inducements and vehicles to lawmakers and political candidates to persuade them to abandon their ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Galadima made the allegation on Tuesday during an interview on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television.
According to him, members of state Houses of Assembly who agree to relinquish their tickets in favour of APC candidates are allegedly being offered N50 million each, while members of the House of Representatives are promised N200 million and a car.

He further claimed that the ruling party was seeking to reduce competition in the forthcoming elections, alleging that President Bola Tinubu and APC governors were reluctant to face strong opposition at the polls.
Galadima also alleged that a woman from Zamfara State was coordinating the distribution of money to candidates who had agreed to withdraw from the race.
“There’s a lady from Zamfara State who is sharing the money in a hotel here in Abuja,” he said during the interview.
The NDC chieftain further claimed that the woman had met with APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, about four days earlier to present candidates who had allegedly agreed to step aside.
According to Galadima, some of the candidates had written resignation letters before collecting the money.
He also expressed concern about the political atmosphere ahead of the 2027 elections, claiming that opposition candidates were uncertain about their chances of participating in the contest.
The allegations have not been independently verified. No response from the APC was included in the account of the interview provided.
