The Anambra State government, led by Governor Charles Soludo, has introduced new security measures to improve safety and protect lives and property. The directives apply to hotel owners, landlords, town union leaders, and the general public.

Hotels and Landlords Must Follow Stricter Rules

Under the new regulations, hotel owners must ensure that all guests provide a valid national identity card, international passport, or voter’s card before check-in. A photocopy of the identification must be sent to the president general of the community, who will forward it to local and state authorities. Hotels that fail to comply risk losing their business and facing legal action.

Similarly, landlords must register all tenants by obtaining a form from their community’s president general. This form, along with a copy of the tenant’s ID, must be submitted to the state government. Property owners who fail to comply could lose their buildings and face prosecution.

Town Unions to Oversee Local Security

The president generals of town unions will now lead security committees in their communities. They will supervise daily security activities and send monthly reports to the state government. Those who fail to carry out their duties could face suspension or sanctions.

Whistleblower Program Offers Cash Rewards

The government has also introduced a whistleblowing policy to encourage residents to report criminal activities, including kidnappings. Anyone who provides useful information that leads to an arrest will receive a reward of at least N5 million.

Governor Soludo’s administration urges residents and stakeholders to follow these new measures, which aim to make Anambra State safer for everyone.
