JMG Limited has called for stronger adherence to quality standards in Nigeria’s energy sector, stressing that safety, reliability and product performance must remain priorities as the country pursues affordable and cleaner energy solutions.
The company highlighted this position through its participation in the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) 2026 World Standards Day Walk in Lagos on Saturday, October 17, where industry stakeholders promoted the importance of quality standards in advancing sustainable energy development.
Members of JMG’s Production Team joined the walk to support efforts to strengthen quality practices and raise awareness of their role in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7), which seeks to ensure access to affordable, reliable and modern energy for all.

Held under the theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy,” the walk commenced at 7:30 a.m. at the SON Laboratory Complex in Ogba. The event highlighted how standards contribute to product safety, performance, consumer protection and industrial development.
For JMG, expanding energy access must go hand in hand with ensuring that the equipment and systems deployed are dependable and suitable for their intended purposes. From solar energy systems and power generation equipment to electrical infrastructure and cooling solutions, effective performance depends on sound engineering, proper installation and consistent quality control.
Fouad El Chami, Plant Manager at JMG/Jamara, said quality standards should be integrated into every stage of product manufacturing and delivery.
“Standards are not just requirements to be met; they help ensure that products are safe, dependable and fit for purpose. Quality must be considered from the beginning of the production process because it influences how a product performs and how confidently people can rely on it,” he said.
El Chami noted that maintaining high quality standards would be essential as Nigeria explores opportunities to expand access to cleaner energy and ensure that investments in energy solutions provide lasting benefits.
“Affordable energy is important, but affordability must also be considered alongside reliability, safety and performance. The equipment and systems supporting Nigeria’s energy needs must be suitable for their intended use and meet the appropriate quality requirements. This is why standards and responsible production practices matter,” he added.
JMG Limited provides integrated electromechanical solutions across several sectors, including power generation, electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, elevators and escalators, and air compressors.
The company emphasised the importance of dependable equipment and effective quality management in meeting the operational needs of businesses and other users. It also recognised that adherence to established standards can help improve product performance and strengthen public confidence in energy-related technologies.
JMG’s participation in the World Standards Day Walk reflects its support for SON’s efforts to promote a stronger quality culture within Nigerian industry. The initiative also highlights the responsibility of manufacturers, solution providers and other stakeholders to uphold quality standards as part of broader efforts to encourage consumer confidence and sustainable development.
As Nigeria advances its clean energy ambitions, increasing access to energy remains only part of the challenge. Ensuring that the equipment and systems supporting this transition are safe, reliable and capable of delivering their expected performance will also be critical.
Stronger quality standards, responsible production practices and greater attention to product reliability can help lay the foundation for a more sustainable and dependable energy future for Nigeria.
