The African Action Congress (AAC), led by activist and 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, has written to President Bola Tinubu seeking permission to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In a letter dated October 21, 2026, the opposition party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for participants at the event scheduled for November 11, 2026.
The letter, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhai Ikpeminioghena, was titled “Request for Approval to Hold the Inauguration of the AAC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa and for Logistical Support.”

The AAC said granting its request would demonstrate the government’s commitment to multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the party, holding the ceremony at Aso Rock and receiving logistical assistance would reflect the principle of equal access to public facilities and resources.
The letter stated that the request was being made in preparation for the forthcoming elections and urged the Presidency to approve the use of the Presidential Villa for the inauguration.
The party also argued that the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party, had reportedly received similar privileges and logistical support for a political engagement.
“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for participants at the event,” the letter stated.
The AAC maintained that government institutions and facilities are public assets funded by taxpayers and should serve Nigerians without partisan discrimination.
It added that approving the request would demonstrate the Tinubu administration’s commitment to fairness, equal access and non-partisan public service.
The opposition party expressed hope that the Presidency would consider its request favourably. It also asked the Villa authorities to communicate any standard procedures or technical requirements that must be met before approval could be granted.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no immediate response from the Presidential Villa regarding the AAC’s request.
