Renowned Nigerian actor, filmmaker, media entrepreneur and former Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has been named keynote speaker for the 6th International Peace Anyiam-Osigwe (PAO) Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference, scheduled to hold on November 18, 2026, at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
RMD’s appointment marks a significant milestone in the conference’s history, as he becomes the first male motion-picture practitioner to deliver the keynote address. He follows media entrepreneur Mo Abudu, who delivered the keynote in 2024, and filmmaker and producer Bolanle Austen-Peters, who took the role in 2025.
The 2026 conference, themed “Film and Content Production in the Digital Era: Balancing Regulation and Innovation,” will bring together filmmakers, content creators, distributors, exhibitors, streaming platforms, policymakers, academics and other industry stakeholders to discuss emerging opportunities and challenges in digital content production, distribution and regulation.

His participation in the conference is expected to bring valuable perspectives on leadership, investment and sustainable growth within Africa’s creative economy.
NFVCB Chief Welcomes RMD’s Appointment
The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), Dr. Shaibu Husseini, expressed delight at RMD’s acceptance of the keynote invitation, noting that his professional experience aligns with the issues the conference seeks to address.
Husseini described RMD as a unique combination of creative excellence, entrepreneurial experience and public service, adding that his work across film, media, business and cultural administration offers important insights into the future of Nigeria’s creative industries.
He said RMD’s appointment was also a landmark development for the conference, as he becomes the first male motion-picture practitioner to deliver the keynote address, following Mo Abudu and Bolanle Austen-Peters.
According to Husseini, the conference will provide an important platform for industry stakeholders to examine how regulation can encourage innovation rather than restrict it in an increasingly digital environment.
He explained that the evolving boundaries between film, television and digital content require policies that support creativity while protecting audiences, promoting responsible content and ensuring the industry’s long-term sustainability.
Husseini added that the conference theme reflects the responsibility of regulators and industry participants to develop a stronger, more competitive and sustainable Nigerian screen industry.
Conference to Address Digital Content and Regulation
The two-day conference will feature discussions on content production, digital distribution, streaming platforms, emerging technologies and the policy frameworks needed to strengthen Nigeria’s creative ecosystem.
As digital platforms continue to transform how films and other forms of content are produced, distributed and consumed, the conference is expected to encourage collaboration between regulators, creators, technology companies and other stakeholders.
The PAO Nigeria Digital Content Regulation Conference is an annual initiative convened by the NFVCB to promote dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange on emerging issues in film and digital content regulation.
The event honours the legacy of the late Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the pioneering filmmaker and founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards, whose contributions to African cinema continue to inspire filmmakers and other professionals across the continent.
