Polaris Bank has stepped up its environmental sustainability efforts with a tree-planting exercise at the Lekki Conservation Centre in Lagos, organised in partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) to support climate action, ecological preservation and sustainable community development.
The exercise, held on Monday, October 12, 2026, forms part of the bank’s nationwide tree-planting programme launched in 2024. Since the initiative began, Polaris Bank has planted 10,000 trees across 16 locations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 13 states, demonstrating its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
Speaking at the event, Abimbola Ozomah, Executive Director, Corporate & Investment Banking at Polaris Bank, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its business operations and community engagement activities.

Ozomah said sustainability remains a guiding principle for the bank, emphasising the importance of turning environmental commitments into measurable results.
“At Polaris Bank, sustainability is not a slogan, it is a principle that guides our daily actions. It is about transforming bold commitments into measurable impact. Each of these trees represents more than just a number; they stand for communities empowered, degraded lands restored, and livelihoods supported,” she said.
She described the partnership with the Nigerian Conservation Foundation at the Lekki Conservation Centre as another significant milestone in the bank’s sustainability efforts.
According to her, planting economic trees offers benefits beyond climate change mitigation. As the trees mature, they can help improve soil fertility, increase vegetation cover and create potential income-generating opportunities for local communities.
Ozomah also stressed the need for collective responsibility in protecting the environment, noting that employees, partners and other stakeholders have important roles to play in promoting conservation and building a sustainable future.
“The power of small actions, when multiplied, creates extraordinary change. As we put these seedlings into the ground, let us commit to nurturing them and, in so doing, nurturing the future we all desire. Together, let us grow a greener, stronger, and more sustainable Nigeria,” she added.
The initiative highlights Polaris Bank’s continued investment in practical environmental programmes aimed at strengthening climate resilience, restoring ecosystems and supporting community development.
Through its nationwide tree-planting programme and collaborations with organisations such as the Nigerian Conservation Foundation, the bank continues to promote environmental awareness and encourage collective efforts to protect natural resources.
Polaris Bank’s ongoing sustainability initiatives reflect its commitment to supporting environmental conservation and contributing to a greener and more sustainable Nigeria for future generations.
