Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) has achieved a major milestone with its official registration in the United Kingdom. This expansion moves WIMBIZ beyond Nigeria and into the heart of Europe, reinforcing its global mission to empower women and promote cross-border collaboration.

Now connecting thousands of associates worldwide, WIMBIZ’s UK community is its second-largest after Nigeria. With this registration, the organization can now scale its impactful programmes, drive bilateral trade, and strengthen partnerships that support women leaders in both regions.

A Global Platform for Unity and Leadership

The announcement was made by Bisi Adeyemi, Chairman of the WIMBIZ Board of Trustees, during the 3rd WIMBIZ London Conference held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Hilton London Kensington. In her welcome speech, Adeyemi affirmed WIMBIZ’s mission by stating, “When women come together, extraordinary things happen.”

Omowunmi Akingbohungbe, Executive Director of WIMBIZ, and Caroline Popoola, Chair of the 2025 London Conference Planning Group, delivered opening remarks that emphasized unity and strength under the conference theme, “The Power of Us.” According to Akingbohungbe, WIMBIZ remains focused on supporting women into leadership. She added that leadership should not feel lonely, no matter where women are in the world.

A goodwill message from Florence Eshalomi MP, the UK Trade Envoy to Nigeria, highlighted the strategic importance of WIMBIZ’s UK launch. She emphasized how it would help strengthen trade ties and advance women-led innovation. A standout moment of the event was the unveiling of the WIMBIZ UK-Nigeria Trade Journal, which aims to support female entrepreneurs across borders.

The first plenary session featured thought leaders such as Tola Onigbanjo, Dr. Lisa Adjei, Eryca Freemantle, and Sandra Pollock OBE. They discussed themes like collective leadership and shared impact, and encouraged collaboration over competition.

During a fireside chat, finance leaders Ann Cairns and Aishah N. Ahmad shared insights on leadership, purpose, and legacy. Cairns urged women to stay resilient, saying, “Go for what you want. Don’t let anyone put you off, and enjoy what you do.”

The second plenary session brought powerful contributions from Marcia Dixon MBE, Oluwayemisi Jenkins MBE, Simi Nwogugu, and Rolake Akinkugbe-Filani. They spoke passionately about building community impact and addressed questions on integrity, visibility, and wealth creation.

In the emotional “Dare to Share Your Story” segment, Belinda Otas and Morenike Ajayi moved the audience with raw stories of courage and growth. A lively debate followed. Panelists Eunice Afolabi, Yanmo Adetula, Feizin Amlani, Dr. Gospel Obele, and Mayowa Oluyede exchanged views on the topic “Traditional Change vs. Progressive Change.”

Finally, the event closed with an electrifying violin performance by Anna Petrie and a vibrant “Disco Fever” after-party. It was a fitting end to a day of unity, achievement, and inspiration.
