According to him, the agency immediately activated its Cobra Response Team from the Onipanu Base, which arrived at the scene two minutes later.
Upon arrival, the responders discovered that the building under construction had collapsed, with workers suspected to be trapped beneath the rubble.
Oke-Osanyintolu said rescue operations began immediately, while safety measures were introduced to protect both the victims and emergency personnel at the scene.
He explained that rescuers heard groaning sounds beneath the debris during the operation, raising hopes that some of the trapped workers might still be alive.
The agency subsequently deployed an excavator to assist emergency responders in removing the rubble and locating possible survivors.
### Three Workers Rescued Alive
As of 3:33 a.m., emergency responders had rescued three adult males alive, while the body of another adult male was recovered from the debris.
The rescued victims, who were working at the construction site when the building collapsed, received immediate medical attention from LASEMA paramedics and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).
They were subsequently transported to a hospital for further treatment.
Other emergency agencies involved in the rescue operation included the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASAMBUS, the LASEMA Response Team and officers of the Nigeria Police Force from Alagbon Division.
### Cause of Collapse Yet to Be Determined
Oke-Osanyintolu stated that search-and-rescue operations were ongoing as authorities worked to establish whether additional workers remained trapped beneath the rubble.
He added that the cause of the building collapse had yet to be determined, while relevant regulatory authorities were expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The LASEMA official also expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
The incident adds to concerns about building safety and construction practices in Lagos State, where authorities have continued to respond to emergencies involving structural failures.
