Ikeja Electric Plc, one of Nigeria’s leading electricity distribution companies, has officially informed the public of a scheduled 25-day power supply interruption across several parts of Lagos State. The planned outage, set to commence on Monday, July 28, and end on Thursday, August 21, 2025, is to facilitate critical maintenance operations being undertaken by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.
The announcement was made via Ikeja Electric’s verified social media platforms on Friday, July 25, 2025, as the company alerted customers to prepare for anticipated disruptions in power supply within its operational network during the maintenance period.
Scope of the Maintenance Exercise
According to the notice issued, the planned work will involve comprehensive upgrades and technical interventions along the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission corridor. This line plays a strategic role in Nigeria’s electricity transmission infrastructure, connecting the Omotosho Power Station in Ondo State to the Ikeja West transmission substation, a major hub responsible for delivering power to various districts within Lagos State.
The maintenance is crucial to improving the reliability and efficiency of electricity transmission and reducing future breakdowns or emergency outages that may affect residential and industrial zones alike.

The scheduled outage will occur daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, during which affected areas will experience intermittent power supply and load shedding. In its advisory, EKEDC confirmed that the transmission line upgrade would result in rotational power outages across its franchise areas, which include major commercial zones in Lagos Island and its environs. This further highlights the scale and critical importance of the ongoing maintenance, as it affects multiple DisCos connected to the transmission corridor.
