The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has reopened its admission portal to allow prospective students to apply for three newly approved academic programmes.
The reopening follows the approval granted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) for the university to begin offering degree programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunication Science, and Tourism and Hospitality Management.
According to the university, the admission window will remain open for one week, from Tuesday, October 6, to Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The NUC communicated its approval in a letter dated September 11, 2026, after conducting a resource verification exercise at the institution on August 27.
During the exercise, the commission assessed the university’s available facilities, academic personnel and other resources required to run the three programmes before giving its approval.
The latest admission window comes as FUTES-IYIN prepares for its second academic session. The university said the exercise is specifically aimed at candidates interested in gaining admission into the newly approved programmes.
Commenting on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gbenga Aribisala, said the programmes were introduced to meet emerging national and international demands while remaining consistent with the university’s focus on technology and environmental development.
Aribisala explained that the decision to expand the university’s academic offerings was not driven by the desire to increase student numbers, but by the need to provide programmes with clear relevance to society and the institution’s founding objectives.
“We are not expanding our programme base simply to increase our number of students. Every programme we introduce must have a purpose, must respond to a need and must fit into the vision for which this university was established.”
The Vice-Chancellor further stated that the university had made deliberate investments in the human and physical resources needed to support the new programmes.
He added that the expansion would be carried out without compromising the institution’s academic standards and quality of education.
The university has therefore advised interested candidates to visit the FUTES-IYIN admission portal and follow the registration instructions carefully.
Candidates seeking admission through the newly approved programmes are also required to change their institution to FUTES-IYIN and select one of the three programmes as their preferred course on the JAMB CAPS platform.
The institution urged eligible candidates to complete both their applications and the required JAMB changes before the deadline, stressing that the admission portal would close after the one-week application period.
FUTES-IYIN had earlier commenced its 2026/2027 admission exercise, but registration for the initial screening exercise was later closed after the first application window ended.
