Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has criticised the Supreme Court over the delay in delivering judgments on the leadership crises within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The apex court had, on April 22, concluded hearings on disputes affecting both opposition parties and reserved judgment. A five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba did not fix a date for the rulings after hearing separate appeals challenging earlier lower court decisions.

The delay has heightened concerns among 2027 aspirants, as the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for submission of party membership registers draws near.

Reacting via his Facebook page on Wednesday, Fayose questioned the timing of the delay, noting that President Bola Tinubu and other aspirants within the APC are already obtaining nomination forms.

He argued that the situation raises concerns about fairness and neutrality, warning that Nigerians should not be left without viable political alternatives ahead of the elections.

“If the judiciary is truly the last hope of the common man, the ADC and PDP judgments would have been delivered,” he said.

Fayose further suggested that the delay could undermine public confidence in the judiciary, adding that Nigerians deserve a competitive electoral process rather than a one-sided contest.
