Ayoola Enitan Akindele, a proud alumnus of Lagos State University (LASU) and a rising force in global innovation, is earning widespread recognition for his pioneering work in robotics, digital health, and educational technology. Akindele, who recently graduated with distinction from South Ural State University, Russia, is celebrated for his interdisciplinary contributions to solving real-world problems through technological innovation.

The 2025 graduate achieved a perfect 5.00 GPA in Mechatronics and Robotics Engineering, securing a place on the university’s Distinguished Academic List for two consecutive years (2023/2024 and 2024/2025). He is also a recipient of the prestigious Open Doors Scholarship, awarded to top-performing international students in Russia.
Akindele first gained international attention in 2020 after winning a gold medal at the World Invention Creativity Olympic Competition in Seoul, South Korea, for inventing an Emergency IoT Tracking System. The innovation was recognised for its outstanding creativity, presentation, and real-world applicability, particularly in emergency response and disaster management.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Akindele showcased exceptional ingenuity by designing an omnidirectional, solar-powered sanitizing machine integrated with temperature sensing capabilities. Developed at Covenant University, Nigeria, this innovation directly addressed urgent public health needs at the time and earned widespread commendation.
In academic research, Akindele has made significant contributions to the early detection of lung cancer through breath analysis, an emerging frontier in non-invasive digital diagnostics. His Master’s thesis on the development of Digital Twins for Collaborative Robots advances the boundaries of real-time human-robot interaction and industrial automation.
His research has been published in leading journals and presented at top conferences indexed by Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, with a fast-growing citation footprint and an impressive H-index. He is also active on ResearchGate, where his work continues to inspire scholars and technologists globally.
Akindele’s achievements reflect a growing wave of Nigerian scholars leading in innovation and technology on the international stage. His work seamlessly blends education, sustainability, and robotics, aligning with the national vision of building a tech-driven future for Nigeria.
“My commitment is to develop solutions that not only solve global problems but also uplift local communities through technology,” Akindele told The Guardian.
As Nigeria strives to expand its digital economy and technological capabilities, Akindele’s accomplishments stand as a testament to the nation’s immense potential in science, innovation, and global leadership.

That’s a great achievement. I’m proud of my wonderful brother. Akindele to the world
