The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of allegedly using misleading information to discredit President Bola Tinubu and the party’s campaign activities in Kaduna State.
The allegation was made by Dele Alake, spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, in a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, according to Politics Nigeria.
Alake claimed that the opposition had launched a campaign to damage the reputation of Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other APC leaders ahead of the party’s rally in the state.

He alleged that the campaign involved altered photographs, questionable documents, AI-generated materials and digitally manipulated videos designed to mislead the public.
One of the incidents cited by Alake concerned a photograph showing a security vehicle parked beside an APC campaign billboard in Kaduna metropolis.
He claimed that the image was used to suggest that security operatives had been assigned to protect the ruling party’s campaign billboards.
Alake alleged that the interpretation gained further attention after a national newspaper published the report, which he claimed was subsequently promoted through Atiku’s official social media accounts.
The APC spokesperson also raised concerns about a document purportedly linking Governor Uba Sani to an alleged N2.3 trillion allocation for the party’s Kaduna rally.
According to Alake, the document was presented as a letter from the governor to Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
He rejected the reported amount, arguing that the figure was inconsistent with Kaduna State’s annual budgetary allocations.
To support his argument, Alake cited the state’s budgets for 2024, 2025 and 2026 as N458.271 billion, N790.439 billion and N985.9 billion, respectively.
He questioned the basis for the reported N2.3 trillion expenditure, insisting that the figure exceeded the combined budgets of the state for the three years.
Alake further alleged that the opposition intended to use previously recorded footage and manipulated videos during the rally to create a false impression about residents’ attitudes towards the APC.
He warned that such materials, if circulated without proper context, could misrepresent public reactions to the party’s activities.
The campaign council spokesperson described the alleged actions as part of a wider effort to influence public opinion before the 2027 general election.
He called on Nigerians to examine political claims carefully and verify information before sharing it online.
Alake maintained that the public needed to remain alert to misleading content capable of shaping perceptions during the election period.
The claims against Atiku and the ADC were made by the APC campaign council. No response from either Atiku or the ADC was included in the report provided.
