The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Tanimu Turaki has scheduled Tuesday for the screening of former President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s sole presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to reports, members of the screening panel include former Vice-President Namadi Sambo, former Plateau State governor Jonah Jang, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Tom Ikimi, among others.
Last week, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, confirmed that Jonathan successfully registered as a member of the PDP during the fresh digital registration exercise approved by INEC.
The Peoples Democratic Party faction backed by Seyi Makinde also announced plans to screen 748 House of Representatives aspirants, 198 senatorial aspirants, and 112 governorship hopefuls.
In addition, 2,122 aspirants seeking seats in various state Houses of Assembly are expected to participate in the screening exercise, which begins on Tuesday across different states.
In a statement shared on the party’s official Facebook page on Sunday, the PDP stated that one presidential aspirant would also appear before the screening committee.
“The screening exercise will take place nationwide on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 10:00am,” the statement read.
