JMG Limited, a leading provider of integrated power and mobility solutions in Nigeria, has installed a customized vertical transportation system at the JK Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History in Lagos.
The Centre needed elevators and escalators that could serve a wide range of visitors, including older people and persons with disabilities. However, the building posed serious architectural challenges. It lacked elevator shafts, pits, and overhead clearance both inside and outside.
To overcome these obstacles, JMG supplied and installed one TKE Velino Escalator, two TKE H-Series Home Elevators (models H-100 and H-200), and one TKE Evolution Commercial Elevator.
Innovative Elevator Solutions for Complex Spaces
A key feature of this project was the TKE H-Series Home Elevator. Unlike traditional elevators, it operates without requiring a pre-built shaft or pit. This unique design allowed the Centre to have safe, efficient vertical transport without major structural changes.
Inside the museum, the H-100 elevator was installed despite the absence of a shaft, pit, or overhead clearance. It runs on a single-phase power supply, which boosts energy efficiency and cuts operational costs. Outside, the H-200 elevator was installed in an open area. It uses a waterproof hydraulic system with low power consumption. Importantly, it also requires no shaft or pit, making it ideal for outdoor spaces with limited room. Both elevators were requested to improve accessibility for visitors with mobility challenges.

These upgrades have made the Centre a fully inclusive cultural space. Now, students, tourists, researchers, and people with mobility challenges can explore its heritage exhibits independently.
