Zenith Bank Plc is set to introduce its maiden Girl-Child Empowerment Programme, aimed at equipping young girls with the knowledge, skills and confidence to pursue their ambitions and access future educational and career opportunities.
The event, themed “Banking On Her Tomorrow,” is the brainchild of the Bank’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Dame Dr. Adaora Umeoji, OON, the first female GMD/CEO in Zenith Bank’s history. The virtual event will hold on Monday, October 12, 2026, a day after the International Day of the Girl Child, observed globally on October 11.
According to the bank, the programme will feature experts from various fields who will share insights to help girls navigate their education and career choices. It is also expected to highlight opportunities in skills development, mentorship and leadership.

The bank said the initiative is intended to serve as an annual platform where girls can explore their potential, broaden their aspirations and gain knowledge to make informed decisions about their futures.
The programme builds on other women- and girl-focused initiatives associated with Zenith Bank, including its annual International Women’s Day Seminar, sponsorship of the Zenith Women’s Basketball League, the Women of Honour Awards organised in partnership with the Ford Foundation, and the Pad-a-Queen Initiative.
The bank also operates the Z-Woman initiative, which provides support for women-owned and women-led businesses through funding, capacity building and networking opportunities.
The maiden edition of the Girl-Child Empowerment Programme is open to the public, including girls, parents, educators and other interested participants.
Interested participants can register through the link provided by the bank. Those unable to attend via Zoom can watch the event through Zenith Bank’s social media platforms.
